ABOUT US

What does Itinérance Zéro do?

Itinérance Zéro today.

A specially equipped vehicle, affectionately nicknamed "Bertha," has recently joined our team and circulates four times a week. This initiative is supported by a committed team of about thirty people who carry out regular actions. These actions include the preparation and distribution of meals, offering a caring and comforting ear, as well as guidance towards community health and public services resources.

We have established fruitful partnerships with several local restaurateurs, including Milette Patate and Subway. The support of Moisson Outaouais, Grand Frères Grandes Soeurs de l'Outaouais and Escouade Anti-Gaspillage Outaouais strengthens our capacity to combat hunger. Additionally, collaborations with the Cipto and the BRAS allow us to offer training and sets of preventive measures to our volunteers.

These partnerships and strategic collaborations are essential for the success of our initiatives aimed at addressing the challenges of homelessness and food insecurity. We are grateful to our partners who are committed to creating a positive impact in the community.

Volunteers

With an active community of over 4000 members on Facebook, Ben has managed to mobilize a devoted team of volunteers who generously dedicate their time to support the homeless cause with passion. Our cooks meticulously prepare more than 1400 quality hot meals each month, distributed in the neighbourhoods of Old Hull and Old Gatineau. This collective collaboration demonstrates our commitment to making a significant difference in the lives of those affected by homelessness.

The Founder and Directors

Benoît Leblanc, also known as Ben, is the initiator of Itinérance Zéro, an organization created in 2013 but with a future aimed at homeless people. Ben provides essential support to the homeless, offering his own personal phone number, available day and night, and generously giving direct assistance to anyone in need at any time.

His approach goes beyond mere listening and judgment. When it comes to reintegrating a person into society or providing the most destitute with help, Ben quickly mobilizes the members of Itinérance Zéro. The response from the community is always remarkable, demonstrating an unwavering solidarity towards Ben's mission.

Despite challenging weather conditions, Ben patrols late into the evening, using his own vehicle even in freezing temperatures, ensuring that no one is forced to sleep in the cold. His work is not limited to direct aid; he also sensitizes the population to the cause, thus reinforcing public system confidence. Ben shows committed leadership and unwavering determination in the fight against homelessness.
